The Beginning
Two Worlds. One Sound.
IndiviDúo was formed in Buenos Aires in 2010, when Californian singer-songwriter Tiffany Joy met Colombian singer, musician and composer Maqui Reyes. Both were pursuing solo careers, but the musical and personal connection between them was immediate. They decided to set their individual projects aside and join forces—bringing together two countries, two cultures and two distinct artistic backgrounds.
Their international story became the foundation of a sound as eclectic and joyful as the artists themselves. Blending original music with imaginative interpretations of celebrated Latin American songs, IndiviDúo developed a performance style built around two voices, guitar, rich harmonies and an unmistakable chemistry onstage.
In 2011, they joined celebrated Argentine producer Oscar “El Chino” Asencio to record their first six-song EP. Their single “Sueño” later reached the Top 10 on several Colombian pop radio stations, while its San Francisco–filmed music video received rotation on Latin American music channels.
Tours and press appearances followed in Colombia and Northern California. In 2014, their single “Si Me Vieras Tú” led to appearances on the Colombian entertainment program “Bravíssimo.” That year, they performed for an audience of 1,200 at Bogotá’s Teatro Astor Plaza, opening for Dominican singer-songwriter Vicente García, and presented a sold-out show at Hard Rock Café Bogotá.
After returning to Buenos Aires to complete their first full-length album, IndiviDúo released “Sueño” in 2015 with packed album-launch concerts in Bogotá and California.
Musical Evolution
As IndiviDúo evolved, their original catalog expanded beyond acoustic Latin pop to embrace bolero, bossa nova, cumbia, salsa, tropical music, electronic textures and deeply personal songwriting.
In 2016, the duo released “Pero Yo,” a moving ballad written in memory of a friend who died unexpectedly. They performed the song live on Telemundo’s “Un Nuevo Día” in Miami, introducing their music to a national U.S. Hispanic audience.
A year later, four songs from “Sueño” were selected for the hit Colombian television drama “La Ley del Corazón.” The power ballad “Si Dejo de Creer” connected especially strongly with viewers, sending its lyric video to nearly 300,000 YouTube views in only two months.
IndiviDúo closed 2017 with an ambitious European tour spanning 33 cities and 13 countries, with performances in Paris, Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Madrid, Alicante and Amsterdam.
In 2019, the duo released their second album, “Mensajes,” produced in Miami by renowned producer and musician Dan Warner, whose credits include Luis Fonsi, Ricardo Arjona and Gaby Moreno. They celebrated the album with concerts and press appearances in San Francisco, Miami, Los Angeles and Bogotá.
Their third album, “De Amantes en Bruto,” followed in 2021. More recent releases—including the Colombian-rooted “Celebremos la Vida” and the atmospheric electro-bossa single “Arena en los bolsillos”—continue to reflect the duo’s multicultural life, travels and musical curiosity.
Stages, Screens & Beyond
Over the years, IndiviDúo has performed throughout the United States, Latin America and Europe in theaters, festivals, listening rooms, cultural centers, wineries, corporate celebrations and private events. Their appearances include Teatro Astor Plaza, Hard Rock Café Bogotá, Kukaramakara, Blue Note Napa and Club Fox, along with countless stages where their warmth and audience connection have become signatures of the IndiviDúo experience.
Their original music has continued to reach international audiences through television and film. Songs first featured in Colombia’s “La Ley del Corazón” later appeared in its Italian broadcast, “La Legge del Cuore,” while their music has also been featured in the film “Nada que ver,” available through Amazon.
Now based in California ’s San Francisco Bay Area, Tiffany and Maqui maintain an active live schedule while offering duo, trio and quartet formats. Their compact setup can move effortlessly from an elegant cocktail atmosphere to a lively dance floor, combining the intimacy of two performers with the energy and versatility of a larger ensemble.
Their work also extends into schools and community programs. As performers, songwriters, producers and educators, Tiffany and Maqui use Latin American music to introduce children to Spanish language, movement, rhythm and culture. They are currently developing an original Spanish-language children’s music and education project rooted in Latin American traditions and joyful, culturally connected learning.
After years of albums, tours, television appearances and performances across three continents, IndiviDúo continues to be guided by the idea that started it all: two worlds, one sound.
